Welcome to the Charity Through Design Project, Fall 2006, presented by Devlounge & Astereostudio. (Skip to Register)
The Charity Through Design project is our initiative to reach out past the design and development and reach out to the world, because designers come from everywhere, and there are billion of people around the world that need help.
For CTD Fall 2006, we hope to raise a considerable amount of money through designers good will, for an extremely important cause – world hunger. We have partnered with the Friends of the World Food Program to donate all money raised through this project to their efforts in combating world hunger.
The Goal
The mission is to bring in around $5,000 dollars to donate to FWFP. How do we plan to do this? Through design contributions from a worldwide list of designers.
How can I participate?
Starting on September 1st, designers from around the world can submit one page layered psd designs, designed and coded. These must be original and can not have been sold prior or after being submitted to the CTD project. Following submission, designs will be placed in the Charity Through Design gallery, showcasing both the designer and url, and allowing potential clients to purchase the design for $100. This money will go directly to the charity fund listed above. It’s a great way to get original designs at affordable prices, and know you are supporting a great cause.
Note: We are currently thinking about having a judges panel to determine prices depending on the quality of the design submitted, with the base being at least $100. In any case, please register if you are interested, and we will work out final details in the coming weeks.
What about the fall reboots?
If you are participating in any fall site reboots, you can submit your previous design that you will no longer be using. Many times, reboot designs go into your own archives and never get used, why not put them up for a good cause?
How can I get involved now?
Please help spread the word about the CTD project as much as you can. Watch for a digg link, and get the design community to notice the program as much as possible. With your help, we will reach our goal of $5,000 dollars.
Submissions
The CTD project officially begins on September 1st, 2006, and will continue until October 31st, 2006. To get started, use the link below to register. You will be notified on the location to upload submissions on September 1st.

About Devlounge:
Since launch, Devlounge has always wanted to do more than just provide quality content. While we can’t host our own workshops, publish our own books, etc, and etc, we can try to reach out beyond the design community. CTD is a project we hope will receive great response. It is a way for designers to contribute their work to a great cause, but at the same time, get recognized for it in the CTD gallery.
