Podcasts Need You!

Now that the Podcast page is complete and the first edition of the Rundown on the way, we want your input. Each week, most of the rundown topics will come directly from user-submitted topic ideas, giving you the power to ask questions and bring up controversial issues for discussion. Please head over to the podcast page to make a submission!

In other news, the authors index was finally updated. I felt that it had gone un-noticed and unattended, which was not a good thing, especially for all of our hard-working authors. It’s been refreshed and it’s much simpler, with a straight-forward approach for you to get to know the staff that make up this great resource. Be sure to have a look! (and drop us a line if you’d still like to join the team ;))

Final news today, I had planned to published my first article in a new series that’s going to go on over the next few weeks called Essentials, but I got too tied up working on the other pages today. The article will go live tomorrow, and I can guarantee it will be an important one and one everyone who spends lots of time at a desk will want to read for their own good. Watch for it. I’ll also be making the quick transition to WordPress 2.0.7 tomorrow, and with that Podcasts will be added back into the main feed (as of right now they are not because well, we never really had a true podcast.).

The Rundown Intro

A short podcast introducing what we hope will be a weekly or bi-weekly look at various design elements that we’re calling the rundown. If you’re interested in joining our podcast team, please let us know. It’s pretty wide open and we’ll allow you to talk about a range of subjects. I do want this to be an every week or every two week type of thing, but having someone else take over podcasting duties would be very helpful seeing I write about a lot of the things I myself would talk about throughout the week.

Chat with Us

Tonight begins the first of what we hope will turn into a very successful weekly series of live chats. Each week as part of our newly launched podcast section, we will hold an hour long chat discussing a range of different design and development related topics. The results will then be put into a sleek audio format, for your listening pleasure. Live chat sessions begin every Wednesday night, starting at 7PM EST. It may be rather slow tonight as it is our first night and we have to spread the word first, but we hope to expand on this if the participants grow each week.

On another note, one of our very talented authors is in the process of releasing a beta of a script we think you’ll find very useful. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag early, so be watching for it soon! Once it launches, we’ll really appreciate your feedback.

To allow people more time to learn about our upcoming weekly chats, this weeks will be moved to Thursday (tomorrow) at 7PM. Following this week we will revert to our regular schedule of Wednesday nights.

Sounds of Upgrades

We successfully upgraded to WordPress 2.0.5, which was just released a short time ago. We haven’t found anything wrong since the upgrade, but if you encounter some kind of odd error let us know. In other news, the podcast page is finally up! As of right now the page is a bit empty. We’ll be finishing it up tomorrow and then we’ll begin to populate it. We have a lot of ideas on turning existing content in audio format (using Talkr) as well as new podcast only content. Drop us your suggestions!
