All this week I want to spend time making various improvements throughout Devlounge. Today I started things off by working on the newly designed css based Devlounge newsletter. It came out pretty well, minus a few mistakes, including spelling newsletter with a “k” instead of an “l”. Below are a list of other mistakes that will be fixed in time for the next newsletter, as well as what I’ve managed to do over the last two days.
Yesterday:
Fixed contact page so when you use it, it actually sends the email to me!
Today (so far):
Worked on Issue 1 of the Devlounge newsletter. Successfully sent out to all current 19 subscribbers! (Woah!)
Still to come today:
Designing subscribe / unsubscribe pages of newsletter to match the rest of the site.
Still to come this week:
Improved post bit
Nice Printing function (YES!)
Cleaning up comments and turning off moderation so you don’t have to wait for comments to be posted – but, installing either an image verification system or a spam guarding wordpress plugin
Cleaning up and adding to the about page to contain stats, contributor links (like who made this lovely header), etc, etc
Maybe an additional homepage graphic, possibly leading up to a contest (ssshhh!)
Fixing homepage (newsletter box isn’t fully aligned with box above it, and graphic just stops and then color changes).
Newsletter Mistakes:
Newsletter spelt “newsketter” in subject line of email.
Feed link points to wrong address (should be /feed not /feeds).
Unsubscribe link shows up in two spots.
Depending on your email client, newsletter may not render right. Let me know if you encounter problems!
Question(s) of the day:
Should Devlounge has a community forum, with wordpress integration (if we can find one). And, what would you like to see as prizes if Devlounge was to hold a contest?
